/BREWERY

BLAS is located in a beautiful part of Denmark where the hills and forests of the Vejle Ådal turn into the barren heath of West Jutland. The brewery is housed in an old Danish creamery (“mejeri”) built in 1928 that we renovated step-by-step after taking it over in summer 2018. The building has a strong visual identity inspired by the architectural style of the 1930s with an industrial core and discrete romantic accents. Despite the full renovation, we’ve managed to preserve some of the original wall tiles and flooring – the soul of the creamery – which we’ve complemented with BLAS’ urban traits. We place a great deal of importance on the brewery’s physical space and want the atmosphere of our production environment to be fully embedded in the character of the final product we create. We (finally!) began producing beers in summer 2022 and have since opened a bottleshop (with beer “to-go”) and taproom (where you can enjoy the quasi-reincarnation experience of having a fresh beer in the rennovated creamery).

/BREWING

We’re continuously amazed at the number of parameters a brewer can tinker with to create an endless number of unique finished products. We brew with extreme attention to detail ensuring that we always increase our understanding of how different brewing techniques affect our final product. We place equal importance on the imaginative side of brewing and the technical understanding of how different ingredients eventually amalgamate to produce a beautifully balanced beer. In our view, brewing is the ultimate blend of science and art!

We only produce 100% organic beers on a small batch, fully manual, 600 liter brewhouse that we’ve put together piece by piece from a mix of new and used equipment. We share all the details and intricacies of how our beer is hand-crafted and are 100% transparent about the history of every beer we produce (from raw ingredients to process steps; from what went well to where we’ve had challenges!). Like many small craft breweries, we love to brew contemporary hop forward beer styles that showcase the various aromatic hop compounds. But most of all, we love how our size gives use the freedom to experiment, to nurture our creative side and continuously make better beer whatever the style.
